Hohhot to launch new innovation projects
Hohhot, capital city of Inner Mongolia autonomous region in northern China, will launch a series of technological innovation projects featuring "two zones", "two centers" and "five bases", according to Hohhot science and technology bureau. Major platforms and policies that attract skilled workers will be put in place to support the program and boost the city's performance during the period of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).
The "two zones" refer to Hohhot Jinshan High Tech Industrial Development Zone and Horinger New Area, which will be promoted as national demonstration zones for independent development. The Hohhot government will encourage the most innovative companies and skilled workers to base themselves in the two centers, with an eye to shaping the industrial clusters and making them internationally competitive.
A national dairy innovation center and a grass seed innovation center are the "two centers" the local government will construct to tackle technological bottlenecks within the two industries. The dairy center will focus on producing high quality grass and nutritious milk, and the grass center will develop distinctive seed varieties and establish a big data sharing platform for the industry.
The "five bases" will conduct research into areas such as veterinary vaccines, livestock breeding, photovoltaic materials, and bio-fermentation technologies.
