Modern agriculture helps farmers raise their incomes
Due to the development of modern agriculture, farmers in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, are now living a relatively well-off life, according to Hohhot Daily.
Winning the battle against poverty is an important foundation for implementing the country's rural revitalization strategy.
There was huge progress during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20). All of the 35 impoverished villages in Helin county, Hohhot were lifted out of poverty by the end of 2018, and the recorded poverty-stricken population was lifted out of poverty at the end of 2019.
Incidences of poverty have been reduced from 5.8 percent in 2013 to zero now.
To effectively link poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, Helin county first set its sights on vigorously developing its modern agriculture and animal husbandry industries.
Its government work report for this year puts forward plans to give priority to the development of agriculture and rural areas and to comprehensively promote rural revitalization.
The county will continue to promote the high-quality development of animal husbandry. It is to build dairy farms for cattle husbandry, and will strive to start two new dairy farms.
It will continue to promote the treatment of rural garbage and sewage and the resource utilization of planting and breeding waste; improve the comprehensive service capacity of county-level village revitalization; boost the role of township agricultural technology extension centers; and improve the scientific skills and cultural quality of farmers.
