The city of Hohhot in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is planning the construction of 92 "pocket parks" in 2021 in a bid to add more greenery to the city, according to local media reports.
Currently, the pocket park projects are in the bidding and design stage. Construction work on the pocket parks is expected to begin at the end of May.
The "pocket park" is a new concept that has evolved in recent years. They are generally created using spare urban green space, idle land or urban micro-spaces. Experts typically define these parks as small-scale public spaces that have a certain functional flexible use.
