Hohhot reports permanent population of 3.45m
The permanent population of Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, stands at 3.45 million, according to the recently released results of the Seventh National Census.
Hohhot is one of the 12 leagues and cities in the autonomous region that have shown growth in their permanent populations compared with the results of the Sixth National Census conducted in 2010.
According to the statistics, 50.5 percent of the population is male, and 49.5 percent is female.
13.91 percent of the population is aged between 0-14, and 68.06 percent of the population aged between 15-59. Some 18.03 percent of the population is over 60 years old, and 11.96 percent over 65 years old.
In every 100,000 residetns, a total of 30,415 residents have a college degree or above; 15,675 residents have a high school or technical secondary school degree; 27,198 residents completed their junior high school education; and 17,690 residents completed their primary school education.
