National health event begins in Hohhot, Healthy China Index released
A national health promotion event began in Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Oct 17, during which the annual Healthy China Index was released, according to local media reports.
The Healthy China Index, launched by the Xinhua News Agency News Information Center and the Shanghai Huaxia Social Development Research Institute, is an index to evaluate Healthy China construction based on 30 objective indicators in five categories: health resources, health services, health protection, health environment, and health level.
According to calculations, the score of the Healthy China Index in 2021 is 79.75 points, which is an increase of 0.63 points and 8.37 points over 2020 and 2019, respectively.
The 2021 Healthy China Index scores of 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities were released. Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Chongqing took the first five spots.
The conference announced the "Healthy China Annual Icon City", which included Ordos, Inner Mongolia for its improvements and explorations in health services, health security, and healthy environment.
