Hohhot sees rapid expansion in e-commerce
Following selection, recommendation, expert review and publicity, six bases (companies) in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, have recently been recognized as municipal-level e-commerce demonstration bases.
In recent years, Hohhot has seen rapid development in e-commerce.
In the first eight months of this year, the city's e-commerce transaction volume reached 93.4 billion yuan ($14.63 billion), a year-on-year increase of 13.7 percent, while online retail sales hit 15.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30.3 percent. Both indicators ranked first in the autonomous region.
The city also made progress in developing rural e-commerce. It has built five county-level e-commerce comprehensive public service centers and five e-commerce express logistics distribution centers, as well as 201 village-level e-commerce service stations.
A three-level e-commerce service network at the county, township and village levels has taken shape in the city.
From January to August this year, retail sales of agricultural products in five e-commerce demonstration counties in rural areas reached 140 million yuan.
In addition, cross-border e-commerce has played an important role in the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade.
More than 20 companies have set up operations in the city's cross-border e-commerce public service platform, achieving a trade value of around 109 million yuan as of the end of September.
The autonomous region's first cross-border e-commerce direct purchase express mail supervision library has been put into use, and Hohhot's first cross-border e-commerce experience store has been put into operation, further contributing to the development of the city's export-oriented economy.
