Hohhot listed as case area for EU-China regional policy cooperation
The city of Hohhot in Inner Mongolia autonomous region was included on the list of Chinese case areas for the third round of EU-China regional policy cooperation, which was issued by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
A total of 22 cities made the list, with a cooperation period running from 2021 to 2023. The case areas are expected to improve the cooperation mechanism, innovate cooperation methods and enrich cooperative content to take the EU-China cooperation to new heights.
Hohhot started application work in August this year, and made the list finally after a professional review, which selected 25 cities out of a pool of 50, and a question-and-answer session. It was the only city in Inner Mongolia autonomous region to make the list.
Hohhot will work to improve opening-up, create a new hub for two-way opening-up, and integrate into the "dual circulation" development model. The city will take advantage of its dairy industry to deepen cooperation with European universities and companies, introduce dairy experts, work out a joint R&D plan and promote innovation in the life sciences, nutrition & health and food safety. Relying on competitive industries such as bio-medicine, chemicals and new materials, Hohhot will encourage companies with self-owned brands to expand into overseas markets under the "cross-border e-commerce + overseas warehouse" model.
In addition, Hohhot plans to intensify communications with case areas for the first and second rounds of EU-China regional policy cooperation to seek new opportunities in mutual development and industrial cooperation.
