Despite the lingering impact of the COVID-19 virus, communications and exchanges between North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region and its neighbor Mongolia have reportedly remained on a sound and healthy footing – and they have remained steadfast friends.
In 2021, the 12th China-Mongolia Media Forum – themed on "Joining hands to build a community with a shared future for mankind" – was simultaneously held online in Beijing, the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator and Hohhot city, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Meanwhile, Hohhot and Ulan Bator held online commemorative activities to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of sister city relations.
In the context of the severe Mongolian epidemic situation, Inner Mongolia has this year reportedly continued to advance donations of epidemic prevention materials to its neighbor. It also provided protective clothing, masks, nucleic acid testing equipment, negative pressure ambulances and other epidemic prevention materials assistance – worth more than 4 million yuan ($600,150) – to Mongolia throughout 2021.
Entrusted by the Chinese Committee of the China-Mongolia Border Joint Commission, plans are for Inner Mongolia to also provide epidemic prevention materials worth 4 million yuan to the neighboring Mongolian port areas – to continue the friendship between China and Mongolia, as well as to further consolidate and deepen the friendly cooperation between the two sides.
