The city of Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is making great strides in ensuring grain output while strengthening its COVID-19 prevention and controls, according to officials speaking at a news conference on Oct 15.
As of Oct 14, Hohhot had harvested 4.29 million mu (286,066 hectares) of crops, accounting for 76 percent of the total planted area of autumn grain and another 1.36 million mu of crops are being harvested, mainly corn, in land covering 1.26 million mu.
Hohhot has set up a special class to guide the banners, counties and districts to formulate and improve their autumn harvest working plan during the epidemic period. The various epidemic prevention and control measures and autumn grain harvesting work are coordinated and classified according to whether they are epidemic-free areas, or low, medium and high-risk areas.
Hohhot has used 4,987 units of agricultural machinery and tools in the city to rationally divide the agricultural machinery service area and maximize the supply of agricultural machinery and tools in the city.
The metropolis has also organized and carried out 12 technical training sessions on autumn grain harvest loss reductions and has trained 367 harvest operators.
