Hohhot people's congress opens with vision for 2024-25 growth

On Jan 5, the Fourth Session of the 16th People's Congress of Hohhot opened at the Inner Mongolia People's Hall, with 330 out of 339 representatives in attendance, meeting the legal quorum.
The government work report highlighted Hohhot's ambitious goals for 2024, including a projected GDP growth of over 6 percent, industrial output growth of 8 percent, and fixed asset investment growth of 18 percent. Social consumption, fiscal revenue, and import-export volumes are also expected to see significant increases. The report emphasized the city's continued leadership among provincial capitals and the enhancement of its development capacity.
Key achievements in 2024 were outlined, such as advancements in key industries, modern service clusters, innovation, ecological preservation, and improved living standards. Looking ahead to 2025, the city targets a GDP growth of 6.5 percent and plans to implement over 1,200 major projects with investments exceeding 170 billion yuan ($23.2 billion).
Nine strategic priorities were identified, including fostering industrial clusters in green agriculture, new materials, and biotechnology, enhancing urban quality, promoting rural revitalization, and safeguarding the environment. Hohhot also aims to drive innovation, strengthen social services, and uphold transparent governance.
