Inner Mongolia rail expands to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing
China's national railway system will implement a new timetable starting Jan 5, significantly enhancing connectivity in western and central Inner Mongolia.
According to China Railway Hohhot Group, new high-speed rail services will link Hohhot and Baotou to cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Chongqing, cutting travel times by nearly half compared to traditional trains.
Key routes include daily high-speed trains between Hohhot and Beijing, increasing to 38 pairs on weekdays, 44 on weekends, and up to 54 during peak travel periods. Regional connections are also improved, with new intercity services linking Hohhot to Baotou, Ordos, and surrounding cities.
Freight services will also expand with the addition of cross-regional cargo trains, bringing the total to 15, including nine China-Europe trains. This development is expected to lower logistics costs and enhance the global reach of Inner Mongolia's products.
These upgrades mark a new chapter for Inner Mongolia's railway network. They offer faster, more efficient travel and transportation options and further integrate the region into China's national and global transportation networks.
