Newly established company to drive Hohhot's low-altitude economy
The unveiling ceremony of Inner Mongolia Low-Altitude Economy Development Co took place on Jan 15 in Hohhot Economic and Technological Development Zone. This marked a significant step forward for the zone in developing the city's low-altitude economy.
The company was jointly funded by three resident enterprises in the zone – Inner Mongolia Express General Aviation Co, Inner Mongolia Jiantong Technology Development Group Co, and Hohhot Metro Industrial Co, with a registered capital of 20 million yuan ($2.73 million). Its main business scope includes general aviation services, flight training, civil aircraft pilot training, and large aircraft operations.
The company signed an eVTOL aircraft purchase agreement with Shanghai Volant Aerotech Co, a short-haul transportation agreement with Laoniuwan Airport in Hohhot's Qingshuihe county, and a strategic cooperation agreement with the Guangdong General Aviation Association.
The zone will establish a "one core, one institute, and three bases" framework following Hohhot's strategic plan for developing the low-altitude economy as an emerging industry.
"One core" refers to a low-altitude flight demonstration zone. Centered on the Baita Airport area in Baita Logistics Park, this zone focuses on developing low-altitude flight testing, operations, and monitoring alongside related educational training and logistics services for productive activities around flight operations.
"One institute" is a low-altitude economy talent training base established in collaboration with the School of Aeronautics at Inner Mongolia University of Technology. This institute will cultivate professionals specializing in aircraft maintenance, UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) operation, aircraft manufacturing, mechatronics, and operational control, ensuring forward-looking talent preparation.
The "three bases" include a low-altitude headquarters base, which attracts operational and training headquarters of low-altitude enterprises; a low-altitude equipment manufacturing base, which supports the production and assembly of complete aircraft and critical components; and a testing and maintenance base, which provides facilities for testing and maintenance operations.
The zone plans to foster the integrated growth of upstream, midstream, and downstream enterprises and businesses to develop a thriving low-altitude industrial system.
