Hohhot to build youth-friendly city
Hohhot, capital of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has introduced the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting Population Gathering and High-Quality Population Development" to build a "development-oriented, youth-friendly, and vibrant" city. The opinions focus on key areas of concern for young people such as industries and employment.
The city plans to drive job growth through industrial development. By the end of 2027, 300 key projects in manufacturing and modern service industries will be added, with the number of industrial enterprises above a designated size exceeding 500. The number of technologically-advanced enterprises and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises will reach 300. More than 200,000 new jobs will be created in the city, and no less than 50 percent of the annual recruitment for municipal State-owned enterprises will be fresh university graduates.
Graduates from colleges and universities coming to Hohhot for job interviews, employment, or entrepreneurship will receive five days of free short-term accommodation.
Talent rewards will be given annually to doctoral and master's graduates who sign contracts with companies in the city's "six major industry clusters", with 50,000 yuan ($6,915) for doctoral graduates and 20,000 yuan for master's graduates.
Entrepreneurial projects initiated by university graduates will receive a one-time subsidy of 10,000 yuan and a 5,000 yuan venue rental subsidy. Projects that win awards in the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and settle in the city will receive up to 500,000 yuan in funding support.
