Shandong University's Inner Mongolia Institute established in Hohhot
The Inner Mongolia Research Institute of Shandong University began operating in the National University Science and Technology Park of Inner Mongolia in Hohhot on July 28.
As a key part of efforts to optimize the layout of the National University Science and Technology Park in Hohhot, the research institute will enhance regional innovation capabilities by introducing key research platforms and talent teams from Shandong University.
It will collaborate with local universities and enterprises in Hohhot to enhance the technology transfer and incubation capabilities of the science park through joint innovation by regional and external academic institutions, thereby injecting new impetus into the high-quality economic development of Inner Mongolia.
The research institute was jointly established by Shandong University, the Education Department of Inner Mongolia, and the Hohhot Municipal People's Government, focusing on the advantages and characteristic industries of Hohhot and Inner Mongolia as a whole.
It will prioritize core technology research and commercialization in fields such as synthetic biology, biomedicine, dairy science, and lactic acid bacteria, aiming to integrate industry, education, research, and real-world application. So far, it has collaborated with local institutions such as Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology and Grassland Technology Innovation Center to jointly develop laboratories and carry out research activities.
The research institute adopts a presidential system led by a board of directors and is managed by a team appointed by Shandong University. Initially hosted by the Hohhot Industrial Innovation Research Institute, the focus in the coming years will be on achieving breakthroughs in high-level talent recruitment, technology commercialization, and enterprise incubation.
