Hohhot shines at Inner Mongolia ethnic sports event
Hohhot clinched 16 first prizes, 48 second prizes, and 28 third prizes in competitive events, plus a top honor in the performance category at the 11th Traditional Games of Ethnic Groups of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, which concluded on July 30.
Comprising over 170 athletes, coaches, and team leaders, the Hohhot delegation participated in 11 competitive events such as horse racing, the "three manly games" of horse riding, archery, and wrestling, Mongolian chess, Bulu (meaning "to throw" in Mongolian), martial arts, crossbow shooting, and Yajia (a traditional sport also known as elephant tug-of-war). It also presented a performance themed around regional culture.
Athletes from Hohhot demonstrated resilience and teamwork throughout the games, excelling in strength and skill competitions. Their accomplishments showcased their relentless daily training and dedication.
The games, a key regional sports event, promote exchanges among ethnic groups and help preserve traditional sports culture. Hohhot's success highlights the efforts of its athletes and the city's strong support for ethnic sports, emphasizing its rich heritage and excellence.
