Built in 2004, Xinyuan community consists of 11 buildings and is home to 788 residents. According to Mei Wenjun, project manager for Saihan district's old community renovation initiative, the main upgrades include roof waterproofing, exterior wall painting, plastering of stairwells, repair of handrails and lighting, replacement of entrance doors, and installation of access control systems.
Additionally, infrastructure improvements involve upgrading water supply and drainage, heating pipelines, installing underground electrical conduits, hardening pavement, installing security systems, and more.
The renovations are currently about 70 percent complete and are expected to wrap up by the end of August.
Zhao Guizhi, a resident who has lived in the community for more than a decade, said, "The community used to suffer from damaged roads and poor sewage networks. We hope these renovations will offer us a better living environment."
