Hohhot to build low-altitude economy demonstration zone
The 2025 Chilechuan Low-Altitude Economy Forum was recently held in Hohhot. Li Minna, director of the Hohhot bureau of industry and information technology, said, "As one of China's first pilot cities for large-scale Beidou application, Hohhot boasts vast airspace and strong policy support and will strive to create a demonstration and pioneer zone for the development of the low-altitude economy."
At present, Hohhot is vigorously advancing the development of modern equipment manufacturing clusters represented by the low-altitude economy and aerospace sectors. This year, the city plans to apply for an additional 70 square kilometers of airspace.
Hohhot has already established the Aerospace Economic Development Zone and built Inner Mongolia autonomous region's first low-altitude economy industrial park, which has attracted 37 enterprises. Among them, 10 aircraft assembly and manufacturing companies, such as Honeycomb Aerospace, have already set up operations, with an annual production capacity of 5,000 unmanned aerial vehicles.
In addition, the city has partnered with the China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics and the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to provide technological support for low-altitude development. So far, one innovation center, two research institutes, and four laboratories have been set up.
Next, Li emphasized that Hohhot will focus on developing the Inner Mongolia Low-Altitude Economy Industrial Park, working to cultivate industrial networks, strengthen industrial chains, and expand industrial application scenarios.
The forum also witnessed the launch of the North China Sky Valley Low-Altitude Economy Industry Alliance, jointly initiated by 14 leading enterprises, research institutions, and universities, including China Mobile's Inner Mongolia branch and Inner Mongolia University. The alliance aims to combine resources and foster coordinated development across the entire low-altitude economy industrial chain.
