Courtyard economy boosts rural vitalization in Hohhot
In rural Hohhot, the courtyard economy is becoming a key driver of rural vitalization. By 2027, Hohhot plans to establish 89 courtyard economy demonstration towns and 237 demonstration villages benefiting over 40,000 farming households.
Togtoh county has developed a "planting + dining + tourism" model by integrating local characteristics. The courtyard economy has supported 34 agritainment businesses, providing jobs for over 500 villagers.
Grassroots Party organizations play a crucial role in the courtyard economy. The "Party branch + enterprise + sales platform" model addresses sales challenges, increasing income by over 2,000 yuan ($281.21). The promotion of specialty fruit cultivation has raised the average annual income of villagers to over 15,000 yuan.
Some villages in Hohhot develops cave-style homestays, integrating the courtyard economy with tourism, allowing villagers to increase their income at their doorstep, relying on its geographic advantage along the Yellow River.
Some villages have embraced rural collective property rights reform to foster agricultural and culture and tourism integration, with village collective economic income reaching over 4 million yuan, promoting employment among villagers.
Hohhot supports the development of the courtyard economy through policy measures, offering subsidies and incentives to boost income. The courtyard economy is evolving from a "household sideline" into a "main channel" for income growth, driving rural vitalization.
