Hohhot launches 2026 advanced ecology plan
Hohhot's forestry and grassland bureau will focus on ecological construction, resource protection, and industrial development in 2026, with an advanced plan and the submission of 35 key projects totaling 315 million yuan ($45.11 million).
The city will adhere to the principle of "expanding, enhancing, and protecting greenery" and continue to consolidate the achievements of the Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program. It will also focus on implementing quality and efficiency improvement projects for urban shelterbelts, including forest tending, replanting and afforestation, arbor forest transformation, and the construction of protective forest and grass belts.
Hohhot will promote the construction of an autonomous region-level rural greening and beautification demonstration county, establish 15 new demonstration villages, and continue developing 19 others. It will prioritize comprehensive management in high-risk forest and grassland fire areas, conduct surveys for pine wilt disease, implement pest control, and strengthen grazing bans and rest-grazing management.
The city will implement 11 ancient-tree protection and revitalization monitoring projects, regularly conduct targeted rectification of illegal deforestation and grassland destruction, strengthen wildlife protection management, and complete comprehensive monitoring of forest, grassland, wetland, and wasteland areas.
Hohhot will complete the standardized construction of 15 grassroots forestry and grassland workstations, enhance the management capacity of 16 scenic spots and five tourist routes in the Daqing Mountains, and continue to optimize its business environment to ensure efficient processing of forestry and grassland procedures for major projects.
