Wang Caiyun from Yili offers insights for China's dairy industry
During the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), delegates and committee members discussed the draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30).
Wang Caiyun, an NPC deputy, senior expert at the National Center of Technology Innovation for Dairy, and director of Scientific Research at Yili Group's Innovation Center, offered insights into the building of a modern industrial system and the promotion of high-quality development.
The 2026 Government Work Report reiterates the focus on the real economy, advocating for the development of new productive forces tailored to local conditions and the development of a modern industrial system.
Wang believes that the real economy is the cornerstone of a nation's economy, the source of wealth creation, and a key advantage in international economic competition. Despite the complex and volatile external environment, accelerating the establishment of a modern industrial system and developing new productive forces tailored to local conditions can help create a stable and secure industrial and supply chain for achieving high-quality development.
Wang stated that China's dairy industry should be driven by technological innovation, optimizing and upgrading traditional industries while nurturing new productive forces. She believes that the 15th Five-Year Plan period is a critical time for China's dairy industry to make comprehensive progress. As a vital component of the real economy, it is essential to cultivate high-quality seeds, grow excellent forage, raise healthy dairy cows, ensure high-quality milk production, and build strong production chains.
