The rural revitalization efforts that Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province made in 2022 was praised by the provincial government on Feb 1.

In 2022, the sown area of grain in the county was 2.12 million mu (141.33 hectares) and had a total output of nearly 1 million metric tons.

As of 2022, the county was home to 41 production bases for green vegetables that covered an area of 344,500 mu. Rudong's green vegetable yield in 2022 was 778,500 tons, while its production value was 1.28 billion yuan ($188.11 million).

Last year, the county built 128,800-mu high-standard farmlands to advance the high-quality development of the agriculture industry. In addition, the city's first unmanned farm was also built in Rudong.

The county's animal husbandry sector had 480,000 live hogs, including 49,000 sows, in 2022. Rudong had five national bases for the regulation and control of hog production, as well as three provincial and six municipal ones last year.

In light of declining hog prices, authorities provided pig farmers in the county with a total subsidy of 110 million yuan.

In addition, Rudong has also made efforts to improve the living environment in rural areas. For example, authorities renovated the toilets of 10,368 households in 17 villages and built or rebuilt around 256 kilometers of rural roads.
