The third of its kind in Rudong, the terminal represents an investment of approximately 5 billion yuan ($726.78 million).

As the first LNG terminal in China that handles multiple businesses including unloading, storage, and transportation, the facility includes one LNG unloading wharf, one loading wharf, two 200,000-cubic-meter LNG storage tanks and other supporting facilities.

The terminal is scheduled to be put into operation in the first half of 2025 and is expected to deliver about 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually. This will result in a reduction of over 9 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and 168,000 tons of nitrogen oxide emissions compared to coal usage.

The terminal, which will have exploration, mining, pipeline transportation, liquefaction, and storage capabilities, will also support the Ethiopia-Djibouti oil and natural gas project in Africa.
