China's largest photovoltaic-hydrogen energy storage project, located in the tidal flat area of Rudong county, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has successfully connected to the grid and commenced operations on Dec 31. This marks the launch of China's first comprehensive energy utilization and coastal ecological management project, integrating photovoltaic power generation, hydrogen production, hydrogen refueling, and energy storage.

Developed by Guohua Energy Investment Co's Jiangsu branch under the CHN Energy Investment Group (CHN Energy), the project is expected to generate an average of 468 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. It will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 309,400 metric tons, sulfur dioxide by 562.6 tons, and nitrogen dioxide by 1,125.3 tons annually, supporting local environmental protection and green, low-carbon development.

The project leverages coastal tidal flat resources, advanced photovoltaic technology, and intelligent control systems to achieve efficient energy conversion and storage. Incorporating hydrogen production through water electrolysis further enhances energy efficiency. The completion of this project will significantly improve the regional power grid's peak-shaving capacity and electricity supply stability, optimizing the energy structure in Rudong county and surrounding areas.
