Nantong rolls out government work report for 2024

Nantong authorities recently published its government work report for 2024, revealing outstanding achievements in economic and social development and outlining development targets for 2025.

Over the past year, the city's GDP is estimated to grow around 6.3 percent and its public budget revenue by 3 percent. The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents in the city amounted to 65,000 yuan ($8,866) and 35,000 yuan, respectively, in 2024.

The cross-border e-commerce transactions in Nantong grew by over 50 percent last year. Meanwhile, the passenger throughput at local Xingdong International Airport surpassed 4 million, and the container throughput at Nantong Port registered a 33 percent increase from the previous year.

Nantong also saw improved air quality, with the average concentration of PM 2.5 reaching its best level since monitoring began.

The main expected goals for economic and social development in 2025 are a 5.5 percent increase in both GDP and per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents, a 4 percent growth in public budget revenue, stable expansion in foreign trade, and actual utilization of foreign capital, and continuous improvement in the natural environment.
