Huangshan signs up 302 projects worth $6b in first half

Huangshan city in Anhui province signed up 302 projects involving contracted investment of 40.06 billion yuan ($ 6 billion) from January to June.

Among the projects, 116 will cost over 100 million yuan, up 16 percent year-on-year.

Actual funds in place in the first half totaled 29.87 billion yuan, up 24.9 percent year-on-year.

Some 291 projects are involved in key emerging industries in the city: intelligent manufacturing, health, the digital creative sector, new materials and eco-friendly flexible packaging, organic food, new energy and automotive electronics, Huizhou architectural construction and artificial intelligence.

Their combined investment in contract will total 39.75 billion yuan.

The projects will be doing business with some leading groups, such as the iFLYTEK Corporation. Major projects include the Yujianweilai international tourism resort, costing 3 billion yuan.There are still 110 key projects under discussion – such as the Nongfu Spring water production plant and Ausa Pharmed life and health city – with an estimated total investment of 60.3 billion yuan.

In addition, the city has recruited 153 top-flight talent, set up two provincial industrial innovation teams and deepened school-business links to attract more graduates.

In the wake of the outbreak of COVID-19, Huangshan solved a number of problems inhibiting the progress of the projects. It held online consultations and meetings with more than 20 businesses, as well as met with 1,344 people from leading enterprises.
