Yixian county – located in Huangshan city, Anhui province – was placed on a list of national demonstration counties selected for their development of rural vitalization, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on Oct 8.
Among a total of 100 units selected nationwide, Yixian was one the four selected units in Anhui province.
To realize rural vitalization, the county has ramped up efforts to develop distinctive local businesses and a raft of distinctive rural intellectual properties.

As to local businesses, efforts have been made to transform and upgrade the whole chain of "five black" industries – dark green tea, black fruit, black grain, black chicken and black pigs.
The comprehensive output value of the "five black" industries in the county has reached 620 million yuan ($87.38 million) to date, making it a leading area for rural prosperity.
Plans are for Yixian to build the most harmonious villages, the cleanest streets, the happiest families, the most beautiful gardens and the most exquisite courtyards.
