The Huangshan Spring has a recorded history spanning 1,000 years and has been famous since ancient times – with the spring water exceptionally clear and the water temperature at a constant 42 C all year round.
The water from the spring – located in the Huangshan Mountain Scenic Area in Anhui province – is believed to have medicinal value and has some therapeutic effect on many diseases.
It is said that the Yellow Emperor, or Xuanyuan – a legendary leader of the nation some 5,000 years ago – took a bath there and afterwards his grey hair turned black and he was rejuvenated, so it has won high praise since ancient times.
