Huizhou district in Huangshan city, Anhui province has been beefing up efforts to explore online channels and reach more consumers to buy its spring tea.

Huizhou district is home to many well-received teas and its Fuxi town is the center for growing Huangshan Maofeng, which is among China's top 10 teas and was added on Nov 29 to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which is compiled by UNESCO.

Nearly 8 million people watched Taobao Live's popular livestreaming host Li Jiaqi sell tea on the Alibaba livestreaming platform on March 29.

"Huangshan Maofeng is my favorite tea tonight. It's good to drink and perfect for people of all ages," Li said. The on-sale Huangshan Maofeng, which was highly regarded by the key influencer, sold out in just six minutes with sales of 1.2 million yuan ($174,393.46).

Tea enterprises such as Xieyuda Tea Co Ltd are also trying hard to reach more consumers. Xieyuda started online pre-sales from the beginning of March, prolonged its daily livestreaming time on e-commerce platforms from the original 8 hours to 12 hours and invited influencers to promote its tea products.

Live streaming of offline spring tea bazaar activities aimed at promoting Huangshan tea during the 15th Huangshan Maofeng Tea Culture Festival were also a hit. It received 126,234 views and 15,494 page clicks on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.
