Huangshan district, where Huangshan Mountain is located, is a major tea producing area and the origin of the renowned Taiping Houkui variety.

Taiping Houkui has been grown there since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and it was later harvested for emperors during the following Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

This green tea ranks among China's top 10 teas and was added on Nov 29, 2022 to UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

At an event held that day to commemorate its listing, a drama was staged showcasing the art of making this cherished green tea.

Huangshan Liubaili Houkui Tea Industry Co Ltd, China Post's Huangshan branch and the Postal Savings Bank of China's Huangshan branch all signed contracts on site to increase tea farmer's income and further improve the brand visibility as well as influence of Taiping Houkui.

Huangshan Liubaili Houkui Tea Industry Co Ltd also launched four new products on site. The company focuses on the R&D, production and sales of Taiping Houkui and has received provincial recognition for its commercialization of local tea.
