China Daily recently bagged nine "Excellence Awards" at the 44th edition of the Society for News Design's Best of Print News Design Creative Competition.
The accolades include the "Special Coverage" award for the final segment of its "The Landscape Legacies" series, which featured four full-page stories on Huangshan city in Anhui province that were published on December 29.

The series explores the rich history and profound humanistic connotation of heritage sites, as well as the connection between people and heritage through time and space.
The four pages are anchored by visuals of the stunning scenery of Huangshan Mountain, intangible cultural heritage items, tea culture, tea-making skills and the protection and utilization of ancient Huizhou-style buildings, while the stories showcase the charm of traditional culture and highlighted Huangshan city's efforts in natural ecology conservation.
The Society for News Design, or SND, is an international organization for news media professionals and visual communicators who create print, web, and mobile publications and products. SND invited 27 judges from around the world to review nearly 2,700 entries in 11 categories over four days of judging.
The competition was for works related to visual storytelling and design for editorial pieces produced in 2022.
