In an eye-catching showcase of rural vitalization, Zuyuan village – located in the Xiuning county of Huangshan city, in East China's Anhui province – recently stood out as the sole representative of the province at the sixth Moganshan Conference on rural modernization.

The conference – held in Deqing county in Huzhou city, in East China's Zhejiang province on Oct 10-12 – focused on advancing rural modernization with Chinese characteristics and building livable and prosperous villages.

Zuyuan village, with a history dating back over 1,200 years to the Song Dynasty (960-1279), boasts a charming setting characterized by its traditional architecture, cultural richness and a pristine ecological environment, earning it the endearing nickname of Zuyuan in a Dream.

In recent years, Zuyuan village has harnessed its ecological, cultural and tourist resources to develop a thriving and diverse rural tourism industry.

Its innovative approach, combining agriculture and tourism, is widely said to have transformed the village from a very typical small village to an ever-popular destination nowadays, especially on social media platforms, attracting visitors from near and far.

What was said to be particularly impressive was that Zuyuan village's rural tourism model was recognized as one of the top 10 top model example of national rural vitalization for 2022.

The recognition came from a national institution focused on addressing issues related to poverty alleviation and a big data research institute.
