China Railway Group Limited recently announced the development of a brand-new high-speed railway – extending from Xuancheng city in East China's Anhui province to Jixi county, under the administration of Xuancheng city.

Construction began on Dec 28 in 2019 and it is expected to be operational by September 2024.

The high-speed rail link will include three key stations along its route: the existing Xuancheng and Jixi North railway stations, as well as a new station: Ningguo South Railway Station. The new station is widely said to be a significant addition to the local transportation network.

Located in Xuancheng city, the Ningguo South Railway Station will have three arrival and departure tracks and two mainline tracks, covering an area of 16,528 square meters – with an overhead canopy spanning 9,865 sq m to ensure passenger comfort and convenience during rainy days.

The station's waiting hall is another highlight, featuring a design that incorporates elements of red bricks and blue tiles – its designers intending it to evoke a sense of simplicity and quality.

The Xuancheng-Jixi High-Speed Railway is a substantial project, spanning a total length of 111.6 kilometers and designed for speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour.

It is said to represent not only a significant development for local transportation and the economy, but is expected to also play a crucial role in the fast rail network connecting Jiangsu, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces.
