Growth ramps up at Huangshan, as 22 projects break ground

Huangshan city – located in East China's Anhui province – held a mobilization meeting on Jan 2, marking the groundbreaking of 22 major projects in its Huizhou district.

Spanning diverse sectors such as transportation, agriculture, forestry, ecosystem and environmental protection and cultural tourism, the total investment for the projects amounts to a whopping 11.21 billion yuan ($1.57 billion).

The manufacturing sector is taking center stage with 11 projects now underway. They include the first phase of a special resins and derivative new materials plant, boasting a total investment of 2.76 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 890 million yuan.

The figures are said to represent growth rates of 75.8 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively, compared with the same period last year.

Cultural tourism is also takes a significant leap forwards with two projects, including a cultural and tourism health complex set to be developed in the Xixinan ancient village. Located in the west of Huizhou district, it's secured total investment of 1.35 billion yuan, with annual planned investment estimated at 110 million yuan.

These projects are showing surging growth rates of 144.6 percent and 83.3 percent, respectively.

Overall, the construction start of the 22 projects is widely expected to foster robust development and inject new momentum into the region.
