The Huizhou district of Huangshan city held its Huizhou Flavors Launch Ceremony in Qiankou town on Jan 18, which promoted the city's great food and culture and created a strong festive atmosphere.
Huizhou is the ancient name of Huangshan city, which is located in East China's Anhui province.
The ceremony featured lively dragon and drum performances, as well as a new video promoting the food of Huangshan.
The video introduced a variety of Huangshan delicacies, including cured meat, Laba rice porridge, sweet ferment rice and Mao tofu.
The Huizhou district also launched a series of Spring Festival activities on the day, including seven festive activities in different scenic spots, streets and villages.
One of the highlights of the launch was the unveiling of two new cartoon intellectual property characters for Huizhou district. They're named Xiao Huihui and Xiao Meimei and are based on traditional Huizhou culture and customs.
Visitors who participated in the event were given a free bowl of Laba rice porridge. Laba rice porridge, a must-have during the celebration of China's Laba Festival on the 8th day of the 12th month of the lunar Chinese calendar, is made with a mix of rice, beans, nuts, and dried fruits.
The activities were part of Huizhou district's efforts to promote tourism and attract visitors to the area during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday.
The event created a lively and peaceful festive atmosphere, with tourists feeling the warm hospitality of the people of Huangshan.
