On June 30, Huangshan and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Airlines, or GX Airlines, commenced their strategic partnership at a launch ceremony held at Huangshan Airport.
The collaboration will introduce significant enhancements to the region's air travel infrastructure.
Two E190 aircraft will be stationed at Huangshan Airport, inaugurating 10 new routes connecting Huangshan to a variety of tourism-oriented cities such as Chongqing, Zhuhai, Changsha and more. Additionally, one A320 aircraft will operate routes linking Changsha, Huangshan and Dalian as well as Haikou, Huangshan and Qingdao. In total, these 12 new routes will serve 14 cities, with an anticipated passenger throughput exceeding 200,000.

This initiative aims to address challenges in Huangshan's aviation sector and explore new development strategies for regional airports. In late 2023, the Huangshan municipal government established a dedicated company, Anhui Feiyang Aviation Operation Development Company, to manage airline routes. The partnership with GX Airlines marks the first major aviation tourism project for the company and introduces jet aircraft at Huangshan Airport for the first time.
The strategic cooperation is expected to significantly enhance the city's connectivity, increase its market share in mid-to-long-distance travel, and establish an all-direction route network. These developments will play a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of the Greater Huangshan Tourism Area, positioning it as a pivotal hub in the region.
This partnership also sets the stage for long-term growth and increased accessibility of the city’s aviation and tourism sector, benefiting both residents and visitors alike.
