Diplomats immerses themselves at Qimen cycling race

Updated: December 2, 2024

The Belt and Road Diplomats' Cycling Series (Huangshan Qimen Station) kicked off on Dec 30, attracting around 400 riders to converge on the "homeland of Chinese black tea".

A total of 42 international students from 19 countries, including the UK, France, Russia, Portugal and Indonesia, took part in the race.

Starting from Qimen South Station, it followed the clear waters of the Chang River, passing through scenic spots such as Tafang, Pingli and Rongkou.

The race route showcased the breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Qimen black tea production areas. It also integrated challenging hilly sections and gentle stretches, providing competitors with a journey that was both challenging and enchanting.

After some intense battles, He Shan won the men's road race, Shen Danmei won the women's road race, Marco Lovisetto triumphed in the diplomats and international students category and Yan Yueyue emerged victorious in the recreational cycling group.

Organizers say the race deeply integrates Qimen's regional culture – promoting cultural exchange and sports cooperation among countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
