On Jan 15, the "Splendid Huizhou, Spring Festival Flavor in Chengkan" event occurred at the Chengkan Scenic Area in Huizhou district, Huangshan city. The vibrant display of New Year products and traditional performances offered residents and tourists a dazzling festive banquet.
"This year marks the first Spring Festival after the UNESCO World Heritage listing. The beautiful scenery, lively fish lanterns, and dragon dance performances here allow me to immerse myself in the unique folk culture of Huizhou. I can already sense the rich New Year atmosphere!" said Zhao Jing, a visitor from Hebei province.
Calligraphers painted festive couplets on the spot for visitors, offering Spring Festival blessings in advance. The lively Chengkan New Year Market showcased homestay owners, inheritors of traditional cuisine, and folk artists, allowing everyone to experience traditional handicrafts and taste authentic Huizhou cuisine firsthand.
With Spring Festival approaching, Huizhou district has planned a series of intangible cultural heritage events such as the "long table banquet" scene show at Yansi Old Street and the "dragon dance on the second day of the second lunar month" at Shuyuan village, welcoming all to join New Year celebration in Huizhou.
