Updated: March 10, 2025

On March 8, 27 Tongji University international students from 16 countries, including Germany, Italy, France, and the United States, embarked on a cultural exchange tour to Shexian county, Huangshan. They delved into the profound cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes of Shexian county.

Huizhou Ancient City, one of China's best-preserved ancient towns, captivated the students as they strolled through its historic streets. The students were in awe of the exquisite craftsmanship and unique design of the Xuguo Stone Archway, the only eight-legged archway in the country.

The students discovered touching stories behind each archway at the Tangyue Archway Cluster and Bao's Family Garden and marveled at the ancient and intricate bonsai masterpieces. They immersed themselves in Huizhou bonsai's profound cultural essence and artistic beauty.

Visiting the Lao Hu Kai Wen Ink Factory, the students learned about the production process of Huizhou ink, one of the four treasures of the study. Surrounded by the subtle fragrance of ink, they felt ancient ink artists' passion and poetic essence.

In recent years, Shexian county has promoted inbound tourism, joining the 240-hour transit visa "friend circle." This event provided international students firsthand experience, promoting a deeper understanding of Shexian county from various dimensions.
