The 2025 Yangtze River Delta "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains" Sports Games are expected to be held across Huangshan city from April to May, welcoming 10,000 participants, according to a press conference in Shanghai on March 25.
The games are set to feature eco-friendly sporting events against Huangshan's picturesque villages and lush scenery, offering participants a unique blend of competition and natural beauty. Highlights include:
Lingshan Floral Trail Run (April 13, Huizhou district): 2,000 runners will race through terraced flower fields, bamboo forests, and ancient romantic-themed villages.
Dahong Ancient Trail Hiking (April 19, Qimen county): 1,000 hikers will trek along historic paths surrounded by blooming azaleas.
World Heritage Village Orienteering (May 3–4, Yixian county): 1,000 competitors are poised to navigate ancient villages like Nanping and Chiling.
Xiake Ancient Trail Climb (May 18, Xiuning county): 3,000 climbers will follow the footsteps of Xu Xiake (1587-1641), a celebrated Chinese travel writer and geographer, while enjoying mountain vistas.
Huizhou Ancient City Paddleboarding (May 18, Shexian county): 2,000 paddlers will glide past historic landmarks like Taiping Bridge and Yuliang Dam.
Xin'an River Dragon Boat Festival (May 25, Tunxi district): 800 international and domestic teams will compete in a festive celebration coinciding with the Dragon Boat Festival.
In addition to the races, cultural and tourism activities are set to be held alongside the events. Participants will receive free scenic area access and discounts on local experiences upon completion of their races.
