The State Bureau of Cultural Relics in China has unveiled its Inaugural Compilation of Ancient Inscriptions, a list that was recently made accessible on its official website.

This comprehensive catalogue accounts for 1,658 noteworthy cultural artifacts, including everything from stele inscriptions to cliff stone carvings. These relics span a vast period, tracing their origins back from the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Shandong province has distinguished itself by having 203 of its ancient inscriptions recognized in the compilation, placing it second in the national ranking.

The compilation defines ancient inscriptions and stone carvings as relics of profound cultural significance. These are meticulously engraved on an assortment of stone materials, making them compelling testaments to the historical, artistic, and scientific legacy of the nation.
