Xiamen secures 10 projects at China AI Summit Forum

The coastal city of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province secured 10 projects related to artificial intelligence (AI) at the 2020 China AI Summit Forum held in the city on Dec 23.

The 10 projects, valued at 4 billion yuan ($612.58 million), focus on various fields in the AI industry, such as basic AI technologies, AI application and business cooperation, and are expected to provide strong support for the high-quality development of Xiamen's AI industry.

The 2020 China AI Summit Forum was organized by the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission and the Ministry of Public Security and sponsored by the Xiamen government as a way to inject new growth into the innovative development of the country's AI industry, as well as bolster the cross-border application of AI technologies.

Special guests at the forum said that AI technology is serving as a driving force behind a new round of technological breakthroughs and industrial transformation, and has made significant and profound impacts on economic development, social progress and people's livelihoods.

Xiamen has made strong efforts to promote the quality development of the AI industry, with an array of supportive measures having been rolled out in recent years.

Currently, the city is committed to developing Xiamen into a smart city, aiming to accelerate the pace of industrial transformation and information infrastructure construction. An array of supportive policies was also released to attract high-level AI talent, promote research and development, and foster a favorable environment for the commercialization of scientific research findings.
