The Xiamen Haicang tunnel is the third highway undersea tunnel in the Chinese mainland. The total length of the line is 7.1 kilometers, of which the tunnel is 6.3 kilometers, while the cross-sea width is 2.8 kilometers.

The tunnel used the two-way six-lane first-class highway standard for construction, with the design speed of 80 km/h. There is one underground interconnection and two wind towers in the whole line.

During the trial operation phase, medium and heavy trucks are prohibited from passing. Drivers must slow down when entering and exiting the tunnel to prevent the light intensity from changing too quickly. Pedestrians, motorcycles, and non-motor vehicles are also prohibited from entering the tunnel.

In the direction of entering the island, there is one entrance, namely Haicang Boulevard in Haicang district, and three exits in Huli district. In the direction of leaving the island, there are two entrances in Huli district, Huoju North Road and Xinghu Road, as well as one exit in Haicang district, which is Haicang Boulevard.
