This German player was born on January 18, 1988 of Polish descent. She first played professionally in 2003. Kerber’s highest rank in her WTA career is the world’s fifth for singles.

10. Dominika Cibulkova

This Slovak player was born on May 6, 1989. She is the first Slovak women’s player to enter the finals of the Grand Slam. Cibulkova grew up in Bratislava and became a professional player in 2005. She had made her way into quarterfinals in all four Grand Slams. Her best score was in the finals of the 2014 Australian Open, when she was defeated by Chinese player Li Na and won runner-up. Her highest world rank for singles in her WTA career is the 10th (obtained on March 31, 2014).

11. Ekaterina Makarova

This Russian player was born on June 7, 1988. She has won championships in many major WTA events: champion for singles at Eastbourne 2010, champion for mixed-doubles at the U.S. Open 2012, champion for doubles at the French Open 2013, and others. On February 2, 2014, Makarova won the championship for women’s singles at WTA International Tour – Pattaya Open.

12. Flavia Pennetta

This Italian player , born on February 25, 1982, in Brindisi, and became a professional player in 2000. She has won 10 championships for female singles at WTA events. Additionally, in the Confederations Cup finals in 2006, she led the Italian team to defeat the Belgian team at 3-2, and won the championship.

This German player, born on September 9, 1987 , is good at the bottom-line and likes clay-court events. She has won three WTA champions and is the sixth German woman to rank among the world’s top ten.

14. Sara Errani

This Italian player was born on April 29, 1987 and became a professional player in 2002. Her highest rank for singles in  WTA was fifth. She has so far won 6 WTA champions for singles.

15. Jelena Jankovic

She was born in Belgrade, capital of the former Yugoslavia, on February 28, 1985. She is a professional player for Serbia , and simultaneously acts as the United Nations Children's Goodwill Ambassador. Her highest score for singles is the world’s first. She once won the runner-up for women’s singles at the U.S. Open 2008.

16. Lucie Safarova

Another promising Czech player after Vaidisova, she was born on February 4, 1987 . She became famous after the qualifying competition and win at Estoril Open 2005. She made her way into Wimbledon semi-finals in 2014.

17. Carla Suarez Navarro

This player was born on September 3, 1988. Her highest ranking for singles in her WTA career was 14th (on September 16, 2013).

18. Venus Williams

She was born on June 17, 1980, and is commonly referred to as the Senior Williams. She is a U.S. player and the world’s top player for singles. She won 7 Grand Slams for women’s singles, champion of 1 WTA year-end finals (2008), and dual-winner of the gold medal for singles / doubles at the Sydney Olympic Games 2000. Compared to her younger sister Serena, Venus often hits in a flatten-out manner, and her ball-holding in more attractive than defensive.

Venus Williams won a total of 22 Grand Slam champions, including 7 for singles, 13 for doubles, and 2 for mixed-doubles. She has participated in four Olympics and won four gold medals in singles and doubles. She also holds a record as the women’s player with the fastest serve.

Venus Williams is particularly outstanding in grass-court events. She has won five women’s singles championships at Wimbledon Open.

19. Alize Cornet

This French player was born in Nice, France.  She won the championship for women’s singles in the youth group at the French Open 2007. She became a professional player in 2006. Her highest ranking was 11th for singles, obtained in February 16, 2009.

20. Garbine Muguruza Blanco

This Spanish player was born in Caracas, capital of Venezuela on October 8, 1993. She is known defeating Serena Williams, the world’s top player at the time, at the French Open 2014, and finally made her way into the quarterfinals.
