Latin-America bosom-buddy fair promoted in Beijing

Cooperation in trade of commodities and services, technology, investment finance, and tourism will be sought during the Hengqin China-Latin America International Fair at the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center from Nov 9 to 11.

On Aug 16, some 120 government officials, diplomats, and business representatives were briefed in Beijing about the first-of-its-kind fair's theme of "Bosom Friends Make Distance Disappear."

The focus will be on bilateral economic and trade cooperation, especially partnerships in technology and agriculture.

According to Niu Jing, Party secretary of the CPC Hengqin New Area Committee, the fair will encompass exhibitions, meetings, forums, business summits, and cultural exchanges.

Q&A session 

An exhibition area of 30,000 sq m will accommodate up to 500 enterprises and 40,000 visitors. Exhibitors will come mainly from the Latin American and Caribbean region.

Covering 15,000 sq m, the Latin America Specialty Exhibition Area will especially show agricultural, health and medical, and cultural tourism products and services. The area will include the Main Guest National Pavilion.

The China-LAC Cooperation Exhibition Area will occupy 5,000 sq m for demonstrations of Latin American economic trade achievements by key domestic enterprises. Zhuhai's emerging industries with international competitiveness will be showcased.

The display area for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be 10,000 sq m and contain the 1,000-sq-m China National Pavilion.

Progress on the China-Latin America Economic & Trade Cooperation Park was also detailed at the meeting.

The facility sited at Hengqin International Hi-tech Innovation Park has had its first-phase 35,000-sq-m main structure topped.

Projected to promote bilateral cultural communication, tourism exchange, cross-border e-business, economic and trade services, and modern business services, the park will allow a corporate presence after becoming operational by the end of the year.

Among attendees in Beijing were embassy envoys Juan Carlos Paz of Argentina, Gustavo Gonzalez of Chile, and other officials from Cuba, Peru, Uruguay, Ecuador, and Guyana. Deputy mayoral candidate Zhu Qingqiao and Guo Yinghui, head of the exhibition and events department of the China Chamber of International Commerce, also took part.
