Mayoral vacancy in Zhuhai is filled by Yao Yisheng

Yao Yisheng was appointed vice mayor and acting mayor upon the resignation of Mayor Li Zezhong being accepted at the 7th Session of the Standing Committee of the 9th Zhuhai Municipal People's Congress on Sept 22.

The acting mayor is also an alternate member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and also deputy secretary of the CPC Zhuhai Municipal Committee and secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the government.

Yao, 52, is an ethnic Han born in Shantou, Guangdong Province in July 1965. He became a Party member in October 1986 and started work in July 1987.

Previously an engineer, Yao obtained a bachelor of agriculture degree in soil agro-chemistry from the South China Agricultural University. He acquired his postgraduate qualification in the major of the Political Economy at the Party School of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPC.
