Circuit board giant becoming colossus in Doumen

The world's first intelligent PCB (printed circuit board) plant is expanding in Doumen in order to reach an annual output per capita quadruple that of the global industry average.

Zhuhai Founder High-End Communications Intelligence Park came under construction at Fushan Industrial Park on Sept 26.

The company produces high-end communications, servers, and data storage PCBs requiring very few manual operations. Those sectors have a global market worth $7 billion, and the company wants a more than 30 percent share, according to a project head.

CEO Hu Yongshuan revealed earlier this year that the base's annual per capita output should exceed 1.5 million yuan ($218,000) upon commencing production -- triple the industry average. Zhuhai Founder Hi-Tech Electronic Co Ltd yielded an output value of 1.2 billion yuan ($180.8 million) last year.

The 2.5-billion-yuan ($377 million) Zhuhai industrial base consists of two 70,000-sq-m facilities. It is adding eight same-sized buildings in anticipation of an annual output of 15 billion yuan ($2.3 billion). When annual output value is between 3 billion yuan ($45 million) and 4 billion yuan ($60.3 million), the company will scale up total investment to 8 billion yuan ($120.5 million).

Potential clients include Dell, a world-famous computer brand; Cisco, a US leader in IT and networking; Korean Samsung Semiconductor, a multi-billion-dollar subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Corp; IBM (International Business Machines Corp), an American multinational technology company; Fujitsu, a Japanese multinational information technology equipment and services company; and Alcatel-Lucent SA, a French global telecommunications equipment firm.

To dominate the domestic marketplace, Founder PCB Development will partner with Chinese IT giants ZTE and Huawei; Inspur, a leading cloud computing solution provider; Fiberhome Networks, a major networking and telecommunication equipment provider; IT solutions supplier New H3C; e-commerce giant Alibaba; and Baidu, China's leading web services company.

Founder PCB Development is a world-leading PCB manufacturer established in 1986. It makes core investments in high-end manufacturing in expansion of its parent company, Founder Group. After a decade's activity it now owns a development company, research institute, and six PCB manufacturing plants with annual production capacity of 15 million sq feet (2,090 hectares).

One of the China's top 100 electronics enterprises, the firm currently has assets of 5 billion yuan ($726.4 million) and last year had sales revenue topping 2.6 billion yuan ($377.7 million).

The company has maintained third position domestically and 40th globally among enterprises in the industry since 2009 as ranked by the China Printed Circuit Association (CPCA).
