Gaolan selected as big player in S Asia fruit industry

A major Thai fruit company will bring import-export trade supply chain, finance, international cargo logistics services, and e-commerce to a new base in the Gaolan Port Economic Zone.

The South China Fruits Import-Export Trade & Distribution Center will be built at the port under an agreement recently signed by Gaolan Port, China Thaishun Group, and Zhuhai International Container Terminals (Gaolan) Ltd (ZICT).

According to the pact, Thaishun will receive major support and preferential policies from city and zone authorities. In addition, ZICT, the major operator of Gaolan Port Terminal, offers advanced facilities and high-quality services for Thaishun's import-export trade and logistics supply chain.

Engaged in import-export trade for 30 years, Thaishun has forged partnerships with nearly 1,000 import-export merchants and established relationships with high-grade fruit bases throughout Southeast Asia.

Accounting for nearly 70 percent of Thailand’s fruit wholesale and export trade, the company had total trade volume of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) in 2016. Its settlement in Gaolan is hailed by industry insiders to have great importance for enriching local fruit import-export business and diversifying the industrial structure.
