Locally founded company Intelligent broke ground on Dec 8 for an 800-million-yuan ($121 million) "smart" manufacturing industrial site near its headquarters in Xinqing Science & Technology Industrial Park of Doumen District.
Further development reportedly has been limited due to rented facilities. Supported by the Doumen government, the firm will build the intelligent manufacturing R&D center and production facilities to meet space requirements.
Groundbreaking
Located west of 5th Xinqing Road, the project will have floor space of 149,000 sq m and focus on manufacturing automotive and consumer electronics. It is to become a new economic engine and contribute to the development of its supportive industries.
It is expected that the project will come into operation in December 2020 with annual output of 2 billion yuan ($302 million).
The electronic automatic test equipment manufacturer started business in Doumen in 2006. In 2015, Doumen's Intelligent Automation, which focuses on R&D of automation equipment for electrical products, became a subsidiary of CYG (ChangYuan Group Ltd). CYGIA reports having 500 professional R&D employees, annually investing more than 150 million yuan ($23 million) in scientific research, and having added bases in Suzhou and Shenzhen plus offices in Chengdu, Japan, and America.
CYG itself is headquartered in Shenzhen. Founded in 1986 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it specializes in R&D, manufacture and service of electric vehicle-related materials, and intelligent-plant and smart-grid equipment. According to its website, the group has 20 holding subsidiaries, 17 high-tech enterprises, three CNAS testing centers, one post-doctoral research station, five provincial and municipal enterprise technology centers, four provincial and municipal engineering technology centers, seven production bases, and 8,000+ employees.
