What's next? UAV developers confer in Zhuhai

More than 40 top-notch developers exhibited products and discussed trends at the 2017 Global Unmanned Systems Conference held in Zhuhai from Dec 13 to 15.

The gathering at the Zhuhai International Convention & Exhibition Center was a follow-up to the Global Artificial Intelligence Technology Conference (GAITC) in Beijing late last May. It was sponsored by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) and Zhuhai UAV Association.

Such leading Chinese companies as Shenzhen Smart Drone UAV Co Ltd and others from the United States, Belgium, and Canada unveiled innovative applications at their displays in the Shizimen Central Business District.

Dà-Jiāng Innovations Science & Technology Co Ltd from Shenzhen exhibited its four latest UAV models, which attracted a great deal of attention. Having developed products in aerial photography and videography, propulsion systems, and flight controllers, the company will launch a new type for agricultural use, according to a manager. The goal is to open three authorized dealer outlets in Zhuhai next year.

Exhibits of Zhuhai Lonhua Helicopters Technology

Among 20 industry heavyweights at three summits was Wu Qiang, vice chief engineer at the Aviation Industry Development Research Center of China, who made a keynote speech titled Thinking on Development Trends of Civil UAVs.

Advances in innovative applications in the unmanned aircraft industry in Europe were described by Eduardo Sugranes Andivia, co-founder and CEO of Drone Valley International. The Brazil-headquartered company provides UAV and reactive power ancillary services (RPAS).

Ren Fuji, vice president of CAAI and a Fellow of the Japan Federation of Engineering Societies, shared his views on the impact on social violence that AI might exert.

Brian Wynne, president and CEO of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), sent a video message congratulating those present on the success of the event.
