The Zhuhai China-Israel Medical Technology & Capital Matchmaking Conference on Dec 19 saw a noninvasive and consecutive electrocardiogram monitor stand out among eight Israeli medical device projects qualified to locate in the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

At a road show, project promoters presented cutting-edge technologies and development needs in front of a jury. The judges came from scientific research institutions, venture capital funds, and investment enterprises. One-on-one discussions were held afterward regarding technologies and prospects for industrialization.

The conference was expected to create new opportunities for regional economic development through integration of scientific research, industry, and capital. It was organized by the Zhuhai Institute of Advanced Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and China Clinical Translational Medicine Industry Society (CCTMIS) of the China National Association of Health Industry & Enterprise Management.

According to Oren Rasooli, founder of the China-Israel Medical Innovation Competition (CimiComp), these projects were the top eight shortlisted from 120 innovated Israeli products. They came to Zhuhai eying the huge potential of the Chinese market.

"We hope that such event in the future would help us to introduce more innovative companies to Zhuhai, as we believe that innovation is the key driver of future economic growth," Oren was quoted as saying by Zhuhai TV during an interview.

A Zhuhai China-Tel Aviv Israel Incubator -- China (Zhuhai) Headquarter Base -- was launched on the same day. In the meantime, a cooperative agreement was signed between the Zhuhai Institute of Advanced Technology CAS, CCTMIS, and CimiComp.

Utilizing CAS's platform and technologies, R&D laboratories will be set up to help transfer Israel technologies to China. Some well-known investment institutions will assist Israeli startups in incubation, said Chen Yili, vice president of the Zhuhai Institute of Advanced Technology CAS.

With offices in Tel Aviv, the second-largest city in Israel, the incubator will provide for overseas scientific and technological innovation while becoming an anchor point for the Zhuhai National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone's development of biomedicine and medical apparatus, an official with the Tangjiawan zone noted.
